The Specifications That Unmanned Surface Vessel Manufacturers Follow

By Ronald Clark

Currently, the military has reached an amazing level of sophisticated in its operations. The complexity and technicality of the operations continue to increase as days go by. A lot of improvements have been noted in the area of reconnaissance of enemy positions and movements. Unmanned water vessels and high altitude unmanned aircraft are now being used to attain this purpose. The aircraft are usually unmanned and also hold parabolic microphones, heat sensors and night vision machines. Below are specifications for unmanned surface vessel manufacturers.

The aircraft maintains communication with a ground station through satellite links. It is possible to operate these vessels from thousands of miles away, while keeping an eye on their speed, direction, position and other factors. The operator is always aware of the areas surrounding the vessel because the USV has onboard cameras that capture and upload images of the area around it.

Upon receiving images of the surrounding of the vehicle, the operator sends back instructions to control the behavior of the USV. The USV has its own independent power source that powers it up. It also has a housing that houses a receiver, and antenna, first and second speed controllers, and a power source. Each of these components serves a specific function on the vehicle.

Receiving commands transmission from the transmitter at the control station is the role of the receiver. Commands come in as very weak signals that have to be amplified by the antenna before the USV acts on them. Also, left and right motors are equipped on the USV. The 1st and 2nd speed controllers control these motors respectively. Lastly, a power source powers all these components.

The housing is usually equipped with front and rear cameras. The number of rear and front cameras may vary depending on the model of USV under consideration. The sides of the housing may also be installed with cameras if it is necessary. The cameras are designed in a way that they cannot be damaged by water or humidity. This ensures that they remain useful for a longer period.

There are usually different sizes of USVs. The size of the vehicle usually determines what it can be used to do. A big vessel normally extends to over 50 meters in length compared to the smaller models which may extend only a few meters. The military USVs are built in a way that they are able to carry weapons.

USVs are made to be heavy and long for the purpose of carrying weapons more efficiently. The big military USVs are able to deliver big payload and also displace a lot of water. Other than only carrying weapons, they are also constructed in a way that they can accommodate reconnaissance and navigation machines. From a distance, one may think that the vessel has people inside controlling it due to its huge size.

USVs that are used for military operations are usually colored in camouflage colors. This is meant to make it had for them to be spotted by enemy vessels. Also, the material the surface is made out of minimizes bouncing of sound and light to help with hiding the position of the vessel at all times.
