Merits Of Hockey Lesson Plans To A Teacher

By Virginia Reynolds

Keeping records of what one has taught is very important for a tutor. There are documents that each and every trained teacher ought to have, so as to keep track of what has been taught and what would be taught. These documents should be written even by games teachers. An example of the document is hockey lesson plans which has the following advantages to the trainer.

The time a single session in a school takes varies from school to school. Preparing earlier help the teacher to manage the time that he has been given in a single session. The document will guide the teacher in knowing what he is supposed to teach in a particular session so that he would manage time.

In a hockey training sessions, there is the theory part and the practical part which is done in the field. A well-prepared teacher will know when to go to the field and when to remain in class. The document will help a teacher to know what to carry when meeting a certain group; this may include books, balls or hockey sticks.

A well-prepared teacher will enter the class confidently for he knows what to teach and what questions to expect from the students and will be ready to answer them comfortably. This is not the case to a trainer who just goes to a class and does not know where to start. Such a tutor will find teaching very hard and may not even enjoy coaching the students.

Sometimes things may happen that needs another teacher to come and take over the class, a teacher may be on leave or may be transferred to another school. A lesson plan will guide the new teacher on where the previous teacher had reached in training the group and the skills that they have mastered hence there will be no repetition.

The document has a section where objectives are well stated therefore the trainer will offer instructions that will enable him or her to achieve his objectives. This will really improve the teaching process for it will be goal oriented avoiding unnecessary discussions in class or in the field that will waste time but worth nothing.

Human always forgets, teachers are also human, so they may also forget what they have covered with the students. The program provide the information needed; they will show what has been covered and if the objectives were achieved or not. Mostly if the trainer is training more than one group, he may find it hard to remember each and every group activity to be covered.

Formative evaluation is recommended to students at any level and in any training. It shows the outcome of the training. With well-prepared lesson plans, a trainer will definitely know what to test his or her students and what to expect in terms of their performance. A trainer is only supposed to test what he or she has taught, and this would be easy to know by using the teaching document.
