Fun Things To Do At The Sand Dunes

By Robert Wright

Whenever packing for a trip to an area like this, it is always so important to make sure that you bring lots of extra sunscreen and bug spray. There are all kinds of insects that thrive in the sand dunes, and they can sometimes spread dangerous diseases. Protecting yourself from overexposure to UV rays is the way to avoid getting melanoma.

A big reason why many people love to come to these places is so that they can go swimming. Not only is swimming an excellent form of exercise, it is a great way to cool off when it is hot out. If you get tired of the water, you can then relax on a nice sandy beach.

You might want to find out if it is legal to light of fireworks in the particular dune that you are visiting. If it is around Independence Day or another time out of the year when fireworks are allowed, it can be a great thing to do. You might want to make sure to bring some extra lighters or torches so that there doesn't have to be an early end to the fun.

The longer you stay out in the sands enjoying yourself, the more you will be able to get the full experience of the dunes. Sometimes, it can be nice to bring along a tent and some sleeping bags and camp out there for the night. You will absolutely love the view of the night sky when it gets completely dark out.

Being safe in an area like this could not be more important. There are all kinds of dangers like broken glass hidden under the sands that can easily cut up your foot, not to mention the lack of visibility if you are hidden under the shadow of a steep dune. Things like flagpoles are generally required so that everybody is able to tell where everybody else is.

For some people, nothing is more fun than just sitting down next to the water and making little castles. Sometimes, this might just be a casual activity that you do for fun, just to see your creations take shape. Other people look at it more seriously and want to make very biggest and best castles.

Many people love the power and thrill of riding around on an all-terrain vehicle while they are out there. You might want to make sure that you take it slow if you have never done something like this before. It is also good to check everything on the vehicle beforehand to ensure that it is in good working order.

You will definitely want to know the local regulations regarding alcohol in these parts. Sometimes, a past history of bad accidents or other problems will have led to a ban on the substance entirely. It is always a good idea to stay on the right side of the law, so you will want to look up these rules beforehand.
